Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE) is an accredited higher education institution in Budapest, Hungary, run by the Catholic Church and governed by the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference. The foundation of the institution in Nagyszombat in 1635 and its re-foundation in 1992 are the cornerstones of Hungary's oldest continuously operating university. With its diverse training system, it serves both the transmission of traditional knowledge and values necessary for the development of the entire human personality, as well as the formation of the information society and its adaptation to human fulfillment.

The spirit of the Budapest-based university is fundamentally determined by its Catholic affiliation and the resulting human and community values. Respect for each other, building a professional and friendly community across generations, as well as paying attention to each other and helping each other are of fundamental importance to PPKE. Knowledge is transferred in a people-oriented environment, always taking into account the capabilities, skills and needs of the students. The University pays particular attention to the importance of high quality science and education. These universally recognized values guarantees that the issued degrees maintain their value and results in the favourable reception of PPKE’s graduates in the labour market. The university has 4 faculties:

- Faculty of Law and Political Sciences

- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

- Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics

- Faculty of Theology

The Faculty of Law and Political Sciences presents students with the basic norms of various forms of human coexistence, from the world of Roman law to the reality of today. The offer of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences covers a wide range of social knowledge, from psychology and teacher training to various languages and political sciences. The education at the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics is called the science of the third millennium. Information technology, life sciences, bionics and engineering knowledge together help to achieve an ever-higher quality of life. The Faculty of Theology offers a perspective on the fulfillment of the entire human personality through growth in faith. The possibility of living the Catholic faith within the university and participating in related programs is open to all our students.

The University won the ’University of National Excellence’ award in 2013. A statement from the Ministry of Human Capacities, given with the award, reads: ‘The government has established such a standardized scheme which acknowledges and supports those institutional performances that outstandingly contribute to the creation and preservation of the intellectual and economic value system of our nation. Pázmány Péter Catholic University is one of the representatives of such institutional excellence and therefore it is worthy of the title of University of National Excellence.’
